Short answer
Where is my ETS2 savegame on PC?Under C:\Users\YOUR-NAME\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles\PROFILE-ID\save\ . The profile folder is hex-encoded. For the dedicated server, though, you don't need the save folder but the exported server_packages files.
Why Server Packages Instead of a Savegame?
You've built up your profile in singleplayer, kitted out the map with your favorite mods, and now you want to drive exactly this state with your friends on the server? In Euro Truck Simulator 2 this works a bit differently than in many other games: the official Convoy/dedicated server does not load a savegame folder, but two so-called server packages.
You generate these packages directly in your singleplayer session with a console command. They contain the state of your game world — the loaded map, your mods and DLCs. These two files are exactly what you then copy to your server via the Files tab in the panel.
What you need: Euro Truck Simulator 2 on your PC, an ETS2 server (e.g. at Agrar Chaoten from €7/month) and a few minutes of time. The exact same mods/DLCs you export should also be present on the server and on your friends' machines.
Step 1: Enable the Console
The export runs through the in-game console — you have to unlock it once.
Close ETS2
Quit the game completely before editing the configuration file.
Open config.cfg
Open C:\Users\YOUR-NAME\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\config.cfg with a text editor (e.g. Notepad).
Turn on the console
Find the line uset g_console "0" and change it to uset g_console "1". Save the file. (Optionally also set uset g_developer "1" for all commands.)
Tip: Later, you open the console in-game with the ~ or ^ key (the key left of the 1). If it doesn't respond, try ° / `.
Step 2: Export the Server Packages
Now you generate the server files from your singleplayer session.
Load your profile
Start ETS2 and load the profile or save whose world you want to bring to the server — with all the mods and DLCs you want. The map must be loaded (i.e. you're "in the game", not just in the menu).
Open the console
Press ~ to open the console.
Enter the command
Type export_server_packages and press Enter. Optionally with a custom name: export_server_packages mein_server.
The command creates two files that mirror exactly your loaded map and mod configuration: server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat.
Step 3: Find the Files
The two generated files are located in the ETS2 game folder inside your Documents:
| File | Location |
|---|---|
server_packages.sii | Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\ |
server_packages.dat | Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\ |
For reference: your actual savegame lives separately under Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles\PROFILE-ID\save\ (the profile folder is hex-encoded). For the dedicated server, however, you only need the two server_packages files, not the save folder.
Step 4: Upload in the panel
Now you copy the two files to your server through the panel.
Stop the server
Log in on agrarchaoten.com, open your ETS2 server under My servers and stop it with Stop.
Open the files
Switch to the "Files" tab.
Open the server folder
Navigate to the directory containing server_config.sii — that's the server's home directory (where eurotrucks2_server.exe runs).
Upload both files
Drag server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat onto the "Drag a file here or click" area — uploads go to the folder that is currently open. Both must sit together in the same directory.
Important: Always upload both files. If one is missing, the server won't find the packages and will start with an error or load the default map instead of your world.
Step 5: Adjust server_config.sii
The server_config.sii is where you configure the server settings. Open it in the Config Files tab with the built-in editor and adjust the most important values:
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
lobby_name | Displayed server name |
password | Password (empty = public) |
max_players | Maximum number of players |
friends_only | false = visible to everyone |
mods_optioning | Controls how mods are handled |
Tip: Many values can also be set conveniently in the Settings tab. If a field isn't available there, edit server_config.sii under Config Files.
Step 6: Restart the Server
Start the server again in the panel with Start. On startup it reads the uploaded packages and serves your exported world. Then connect in-game via Convoy → Search servers and check that the map, mods and DLCs loaded correctly.
Common Problems
"Server packages file not found"
The packages aren't in the right folder, or one of the two files is missing. Both (server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat) must sit together in the same directory as the server_config.sii.
Console command doesn't respond
The console isn't enabled. Check in config.cfg that uset g_console "1" is really set and saved — and that you're entering the command in a loaded game (not in the main menu).
Mods/DLCs aren't loading
The packages contain the mod and DLC configuration of your session. The server (and your fellow players) need the same mods in the same version. If they're missing on the server, re-export after all mods are installed server-side too.
Server starts with the old map
You changed the packages but didn't overwrite the old files — or didn't restart the server. Upload both files again (overwrite) and restart the server.
Tips
Re-export after every change: As soon as you change the map, mods or DLCs, you must run export_server_packages again and re-upload both files.
Same game version: Your PC and the server should run the same ETS2 version. It's best to re-export after any major update.
Keep a backup: Save your server_packages files locally so you can always roll back to a working state.
Keep a mod list: Write down your mods with version numbers so the server and your fellow players use exactly the same ones.
