Setting up the server for crossplay

Enable crossplay mode

In your server's web interface, you'll find the option "Enable crossplay" in the server settings. Enable it and restart the server. With some providers the option is already active by default.

Give your server a memorable name — PS5 players need it to find the server in the server list. A password is optional, but recommended for private sessions.

Use ModHub mods only

For crossplay, only ModHub mods may be active. Check under "Mods" in the web interface that no external mods (FTP upload) are enabled — those automatically disable crossplay.

Restart the server

After all changes, restart the server once. That usually takes 1–2 minutes. After that it's visible to PS5 and Xbox.

Mods are the deciding factor for crossplay. Here's the clear rule:

  • ModHub mods: Work with crossplay. PS5 and Xbox players download the mods automatically when joining — no manual download needed.
  • External mods (FTP upload): Disable crossplay. The server automatically switches to PC-only mode as soon as one external mod is active.
Practical tip for mixed groups: If some players on PC want external mods while others play on PS5, set up two servers: one crossplay server (ModHub mods) and one PC-only server (external mods). That gives both groups the best experience.

Common problems and solutions

Server doesn't show up in the PS5 list

This happens when the server isn't configured as a crossplay server, or when external mods are active. Check the crossplay setting in the web interface and disable all FTP mods. After a restart, the server shows up in the list.

Connection keeps dropping

Usually a NAT problem on the console side. PS5 players behind DS-Lite (double NAT) sometimes have connection problems. Solution: check the "Enable UPnP" option in the PS5 network menu, or set the router to a different DNS server (e.g. 1.1.1.1).

Mods don't load on the PS5

Only ModHub mods are transferred to the PS5 automatically. External mods can't be used on consoles. Remove external mods from the server or use a separate PC server for them.

Known bug: PS5 players sometimes see different weather conditions than PC players. That's a known FS25 bug in crossplay sessions and is down to the game itself — Giants Software is working on it.
