Short answer
Why do I get kicked from the FS25 server every few minutes? Most common causes: server CPU overloaded (all players affected at once), an unstable internet connection on the player's side, NAT problems with several players behind the same router, or a faulty mod with recurring script crashes.
Kicked off the server every few minutes
You join the server, play for a bit — and then get thrown out with "Connection to the game lost". Sometimes after 2 minutes, sometimes after 20. Over and over again. That makes multiplayer simply unplayable and is one of the most frustrating FS25 problems there is.
Important: This problem can be caused by the server, by the player's internet connection or by the game itself. Work through the points in order.
Cause 1: Server overloaded
If the server doesn't have enough CPU power, the tick rate drops. At a very low tick rate, the game terminates the connection automatically — which shows up as regular disconnects.
How to recognize it: All players get kicked off the server at the same time, not just one. The server log regularly shows high update times.
Fix: Reduce mods, limit AI vehicles. If that doesn't help, the server hardware is too weak — the server then needs more CPU power.
Cause 2: Internet problem on the player's side
If only you drop out while everyone else stays on the server, the problem is your internet connection — not the server.
Restart your router
Briefly unplug your Fritzbox or router, wait 30 seconds, start it again. Sounds trivial — but it helps surprisingly often.
LAN instead of Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi connections are less stable than LAN. An ethernet cable straight into the router often brings immediate improvement with disconnects.
Check for DS-Lite
DS-Lite internet (no real IPv4) frequently causes unstable connections and regular disconnects in FS25. Request a real IPv4 from your internet provider.
Cause 3: All players on the same router
If several players on the same router (same house, same flat share) want to connect to the same server, NAT conflicts can occur. FS25 has known problems here.
Workaround: One of the players uses their mobile network (hotspot) instead of the home Wi-Fi. If that stabilizes the connection, NAT is the cause.
Cause 4: A faulty mod causes regular crashes
Some mods have script errors that trigger an error at regular intervals, kicking all players off. You can tell because everyone disconnects at the same time and LUA errors show up in the server log.
Disable all mods
Start the server without mods — if the connection is stable then, a mod is to blame.
Re-enable mods one by one
Add mods step by step until the error comes back. The last mod you enabled is the culprit.
If none of these measures help
If you've tried everything and the connection stays unstable, the problem often lies in the server infrastructure: overloaded servers, hardware that's too weak or misconfigured networks cause exactly these symptoms. In that case, open a support ticket with your server provider and describe when the disconnects happen and who is affected.
