Enshrouded leaves early access on 15 October 2026 and launches on PC and PlayStation 5 the same day. The Xbox Series X and S version follows later — announced for early 2027. That closes an early access period which began on 24 January 2024 and carried the game by Keen Games past five million players.
This page reflects 16 September 2026. A lot about 1.0 is officially confirmed — the date, the platforms, the later Xbox release. Other things, crossplay above all, explicitly are not. We keep those apart here and update this page as soon as Keen Games says more.

Crossplay: the honest state of things
The short answer to "does Enshrouded have crossplay?" as of today is: no — at least not confirmed. Keen Games has described cross-platform play as a possible longer-term goal, not as a launch feature. If you are counting on your PC and PS5 friends standing in the same world on day one, you are counting on an assumption.
Why we put it that bluntly: around release, comparison sites and hosts will advertise "crossplay ready" by the dozen. It costs them nothing to claim and costs you an evening when it turns out to be wrong.
What you do know today: PC players play together without restriction, across the Steam and Microsoft Store builds, as long as both run the same version. Everything involving consoles only becomes clear at release.
What this means for your dedicated server
The Enshrouded dedicated server has been around regardless: it runs on Windows and Linux, takes up to 16 players and keeps the world permanently. The open question at release is only who is allowed to connect.
- Certain: PC players keep connecting to your server by IP and port, exactly as today.
- Certain: your world survives the version jump. The server keeps loading the same
savegamefolder. - Open: whether PS5 players can reach a dedicated server at all, and how they would pick one. Consoles normally have no field for an IP address.
If consoles do join: other games solve this with a short join code instead of an address. Should Enshrouded go that route, we will show the code in your customer area — the way we already do for Valheim. Nothing for you to set up.
Preparing your server for 1.0
Four weeks ahead you can clear everything that would otherwise cause stress on launch day. In this order:
Back up the world
Download the whole savegame folder once and put it aside. A version jump this size is the one occasion a year where your own backup beats any promise. In our panel that is a folder download as ZIP.
Check your role passwords
If userGroups still contains ChangeMe1 and friends, change them now. Around a launch, far more people go poking at unfamiliar servers than usual.
Update the server first on launch day
Steam updates your game automatically; the server does not update itself. While it runs the old build, nobody gets in. With us that is one click on Update and a restart — plan those ten minutes before everyone piles in.
Touch settings only afterwards
Big updates bring new fields into the config. Check your gameSettings again after the first 1.0 start — see Enshrouded server settings.
What about Xbox?
The Series X and S version is announced but is not part of launch day. For groups with someone on Xbox that means the shared evening runs on PC until then. The moment that changes it lands here — and in our Discord you will get an answer faster than any page gets updated.
