Short answer
Pointing Your Domain to Web HostingAt your domain provider create two A records: "@" (the domain itself) and "www", both pointing to the server address from your customer area, currently 185.129.85.104. Delete old A or AAAA records for the same names. After up to an hour the domain is reachable; Agrar Chaoten then fetches the HTTPS certificate automatically.
What an A record is
An A record tells the internet which server your domain lives on. When someone types your-domain.com, the browser asks the Domain Name System (DNS) for the address – and gets back the IP address from your A record. If the record points to the web hosting server, your website appears. If it still points to the old provider or a parking page, that is what appears.
For web hosting you need exactly two of these records: one for the domain itself and one for www. Nothing else – no nameserver change, no domain transfer.
The two records
| Type | Name / Host | Value / Target | TTL |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | @ (or empty, or your-domain.com) | 185.129.85.104 | Default, e.g. 3600 |
| A | www | 185.129.85.104 | Default, e.g. 3600 |
The valid server address is always in your customer area under your web hosting in the block “Point your domain to the web space”. The address above belongs to web1.agrarchaoten.com, the Agrar Chaoten web hosting server. If it ever differs from your customer area, the customer area wins.
Delete old records. If there is already an A record for @ or www (for example to a parking page) or an AAAA record (IPv6), delete it. Two conflicting records make the site appear sometimes and sometimes not.

Open DNS
In your customer area under My domains → DNS, select the domain.
Create two A records
One with name @, one with name www, both with the value from the table. Delete any existing A or AAAA records for these names first.
Save
The change is usually active within a few minutes.
Domain at another provider
The path is the same everywhere; only the menus are named differently. You are looking for the DNS management of your domain, not the nameserver settings.
| Provider | Where the DNS records are | Note |
|---|---|---|
| IONOS | Domains & SSL → Domain → DNS | Edit the existing A record for the IONOS parking page instead of adding a new one |
| Strato | Domains → Manage domain → DNS management | Enter the A record under “IP address (A record)”, separately for www |
| united-domains, Namecheap, GoDaddy | Domain → DNS settings / Advanced DNS | Host @ and host www as two rows |
| Cloudflare | DNS → Records | Set the proxy status to “DNS only” (grey cloud), otherwise the HTTPS certificate fails |
| Hetzner, netcup, all-inkl | DNS console / DNS settings of the domain | At all-inkl untick “Website” for the domain so the A record takes effect |
Nameservers stay as they are. You only change two records inside the existing DNS zone. E-mail addresses on the domain keep working at the old provider because the MX records are untouched.
Check whether it has arrived
DNS changes take time. With Agrar Chaoten web hosting it is usually under an hour; some providers take up to 24 hours. This is how you see where it stands:
In the browser
Open https://your-domain.com in a private window. If your site or a Plesk default page appears, the record has arrived. If the old parking page appears, keep waiting.
On your computer
Windows: open the command prompt and type nslookup your-domain.com. If the answer shows the server address from the table, you are set. On Mac or Linux the same command works in the terminal.
Worldwide
Enter the domain on dnschecker.org and choose “A”. The page shows which address DNS servers around the world currently return.
The HTTPS certificate
As soon as the domain points to the server, Agrar Chaoten automatically fetches a free Let’s Encrypt certificate for your-domain.com and www.your-domain.com. It renews itself. If the browser still warns after an hour, tell us on Discord and we trigger it by hand.
When something goes wrong
| What you see | Cause | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| Old page or parking page stays | The change has not reached everywhere yet, or the browser cached the old answer | Private window, check again after an hour |
www.your-domain.com works, your-domain.com does not (or the other way round) | Only one of the two A records is set | Create the second record |
| The site appears sometimes, sometimes not | An old A or AAAA record for the same name is still there | Delete every record for @ and www except the two new ones |
| “Too many redirects” with Cloudflare | Proxy is on and the SSL mode is “Flexible” | Set the proxy to “DNS only” or the SSL mode to “Full (strict)” |
| Browser warns about the certificate | The certificate has not been fetched yet | Wait up to an hour after the DNS change, then tell us on Discord |
Once the domain is set, continue with the website – for example by installing WordPress in Plesk. And if you do not have hosting yet: the web hosting from Agrar Chaoten comes with Plesk, PHP 8.3, MySQL and the certificate.
