> Set up a The Forest dedicated server: difficulty levels, configuration and co-op tips for up to 8 players.

## The Forest / Sons of the Forest — survival horror with friends

The Forest and its successor Sons of the Forest offer horror survival in an open world full of cannibals and mutants. A dedicated server lets several of you explore the peninsula and build bases together.

**Note:** The Forest supports up to 8 players, Sons of the Forest up to 8 in co-op. Dedicated servers make sure the world keeps running even without a host.

| --- | --- |
| **Peaceful** | No enemies — just building and exploring |
| **Normal** | Cannibals and mutants, balanced difficulty |
| **Hard** | More aggressive enemies, more damage |
| **Hard Survival** | No respawn, permanent death — hardcore |

## Tips

**Build your base strategically:** Build your first base near water and resources, but not right next to a cannibal camp.

**Backups before cave expeditions:** The caves are dangerous — a backup protects you from losing everything.
