## FS25 server settings at a glance

Farming Simulator 25 offers plenty of configuration options for your dedicated server. From game speed to the economy to harvest and weather conditions — everything can be tailored to your play style.

In this guide we explain every important server setting in plain terms, walk you through the dedicatedServerConfig.xml in detail and give you our recommendations for different play styles.

**Where do you find the settings?** Most options are accessible in your server's **web interface** under "Settings". For advanced options you edit the `dedicatedServerConfig.xml` directly via FTP.

## Basic settings

### Server name and password

The **server name** appears in the server list and helps other players find your server. Pick a distinctive, descriptive name — e.g. *"Your Community | Haut-Beyleron | Crossplay"*. A good server name contains: community name, map and special features (crossplay, mods, etc.).

A **server password** is optional, but protects your server from unwanted guests. Password-protected servers appear in the list with a lock icon — console players can still see and join them.

### Maximum player count

Sets how many players can be on the server at the same time. FS25 supports up to **16 players**. Keep in mind: more players means higher server load. For 1-4 players a small server package is enough; from 8+ players we recommend more RAM.

### Auto-save interval

How often the server saves automatically. The default is every **10 minutes**. For larger groups we recommend every 5 minutes — that way less progress is lost after a crash. You set the value in the `dedicatedServerConfig.xml` via `<save_interval>`.

## Game world settings

### Game speed (time scale)

Determines how fast in-game time passes. The default is **5x** — one in-game hour takes 12 minutes of real time.

| Setting | 1 in-game day takes | Recommended for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1x (real time) | 24 hours | Ultra realism |
| 5x (default) | ~4.8 hours | Normal play |
| 15x | ~1.6 hours | Fast farming |
| 30x | ~48 minutes | Casual/community |
| 120x (maximum) | ~12 minutes | Testing only |

### Seasonal cycle

FS25 has a full seasonal cycle with spring, summer, autumn and winter. The **length of the seasons** is adjustable — from 1 day per season (fast) to 28 days (realistic). For multiplayer we recommend **3-7 days** per season as a good compromise between variety and enough time for each crop rotation.

### Weather and seasons

The weather affects harvesting, field work and animal care. You can set whether **snow** and **ground frost** are active in winter — that prevents field work during the winter months and makes the game more realistic, but also more demanding.

## Economy settings

### Difficulty

Affects starting capital, loan conditions, harvest yields and prices:

- **Easy:** High starting capital, cheap loans, higher yields — ideal for relaxed play or newcomers
- **Normal:** Balanced economy — the standard recommendation for most groups
- **Hard:** Little starting money, expensive loans, realistic yields — for experienced players

### Dynamic price changes

When enabled, the selling prices for crops fluctuate dynamically. That rewards strategic selling — harvest wheat when the price is high and you earn noticeably more. Recommended for anyone who wants more economic dynamics.

### Starting capital

How much money each player starts with. Important in multiplayer: should every player be able to buy their own machines (higher starting money) or work the farm together (low starting money)? Agree on that in the group beforehand.

## Harvest and field settings

### Yield mode

Choose between **normal** and **realistic** yield mode. In realistic mode, yield depends on soil quality, fertilizing, liming and crop rotation — considerably more work, but more realistic.

### Soil deterioration

When enabled, the soil degrades under monocultures. Crop rotation then becomes mandatory — just like in real farming. Recommendation: on for players who like realism, off for relaxed community gaming.

### Weeds

Enables or disables weeds on the fields. With weeds you need herbicides or mechanical weed control — an extra work step. For newcomers we recommend **weeds off**.

### Stones on fields

Stones on fields have to be removed before working the soil. Makes the game more realistic, but it's an often underestimated extra chore. For community servers we recommend disabling this option.

## The dedicatedServerConfig.xml in detail

Your server's central configuration file. Here you can edit all settings directly — including ones that aren't available in the web interface.

The most important parameters:

- `<game_name>` — server name in the list
- `<admin_password>` — password for in-game admin rights
- `<max_players>` — maximum player count (1-16)
- `<save_interval>` — auto-save interval in minutes
- `<map_id>` — which map gets loaded
- `<cross_platform>` — enable crossplay (true/false)

**Caution:** Only edit the config while the server is **stopped**. Changes to a running config get overwritten on the next save.

## Our recommendations by play style

**Relaxed farming (2-4 players):** Difficulty Normal, 5x speed, 3-day seasons, weeds off, stones off, crossplay on, auto-save every 10 min.

**Realistic (4-8 players):** Difficulty Hard, 5x speed, 7-day seasons, weeds on, soil deterioration on, realistic yield mode, auto-save every 5 min.

**Community server (8-16 players):** Difficulty Easy, 15x speed, 1-3 day seasons, everything off except dynamic prices, auto-save every 5 min.

**Crossplay server (PC + console):** Like relaxed farming, but ModHub mods exclusively and crossplay enabled. Mark the server name with "Crossplay".

## Frequently asked questions

**Q: How do I change the game speed?**
A: In the web interface under settings or in the dedicatedServerConfig.xml. Values from 1x to 120x are possible.

**Q: What's the best difficulty for multiplayer?**
A: Normal for most groups. Easy for relaxed play, Hard if you want a challenge.
