## Why upload a savegame to the server?

You've already invested hundreds of hours into your farm in single-player — bought new fields, collected machines, put together the perfect fleet. And now you want to keep playing that save with your friends on a dedicated server? No problem!

In this guide we'll show you two methods to transfer your savegame from your PC to your FS25 server: the simple web interface method and the FTP method for larger saves. We'll also explain how to download a server savegame back to your PC.

**What you need:** An FS25 dedicated server, an FTP client ([FileZilla](https://filezilla-project.org/)) and of course your local savegame.

## Step 1: Find your local savegame

Your single-player savegame is located in the following folder on your PC:

Depending on which save slot you use, it can also be `savegame2`, `savegame3` and so on. Inside the folder you'll find several XML files — that's your save data:

- **careerSavegame.xml** — main save file with game progress, money, time
- **vehicles.xml** — all vehicles and implements
- **items.xml** — placed objects
- **farmland.xml** — purchased fields
- **placeables.xml** — placeable buildings
- **economy.xml** — economy data

**Tip:** Copy the entire savegame folder as a backup before changing anything. Better safe than sorry!

## Step 2: Prepare the server

Before uploading the savegame, you have to make sure the server has the same mods as your single-player game. If mods are missing, the corresponding vehicles and buildings simply get removed on load.

**1. Check your mod list**

Open your local savegame and note down all mods in use. These have to be installed on the server as well.

**2. Install the mods on the server**

Install all required mods via the web interface (ModHub) or via FTP. See our [guide: installing FS25 mods](https://agrarchaoten.com/guides/ls25-mods-server-installieren).

**3. Stop the server**

Stop the server via the web interface. Never upload savegame files to a running server!

**Important:** The server has to be stopped before you upload savegame files. Otherwise data can get corrupted.

## Method 1: web interface upload (recommended)

The easiest method — no FTP client needed. Ideal for normal saves without very many external mod files.

**1. Pack the savegame as a ZIP**

Open the savegame folder (`savegame1`), select **all the files inside it** (not the folder itself!) and pack them into a ZIP. Right-click → "Send to" → "Compressed (zipped) folder".

**Important:** You have to zip the **contents** of the savegame folder — not the folder itself. Otherwise the upload fails with an error.

**2. Open the web interface**

Log into your FS25 server's web interface. You get the URL and login details from your server provider.

**3. Upload the save**

Navigate to "Saves" or "Savegames" in the web interface. Pick a free slot, click "Upload" and select your ZIP file.

**4. Activate the save**

After the upload, you have to set the server to start with this save. Select the uploaded slot as the active savegame.

**5. Start the server & test**

Start the server. Connect and check that your save loaded correctly — money, vehicles and fields should all be right.

## Method 2: FTP upload

For very large savegames with lots of mod files, or when the web interface upload isn't available.

**1. Connect via FTP**

Open FileZilla and connect to your server. You get the FTP login details (server, username, password and port – exactly as shown in your customer area; the port is not always 21) from your server provider.

**2. Find the savegame folder on the server**

Navigate to the savegame folder on the server. The path is:

If the folder doesn't exist yet, create it.

**3. Upload the files**

Drag **all the files** from your local savegame folder into the server folder. Overwrite existing files when asked.

**4. Start the server & test**

Start the server via the web interface. Connect and check that the save loaded correctly.

## Downloading a savegame from the server

You can also bring your server savegame back to your PC — for example, to keep playing locally or to create a backup.

**1. Connect via FTP**

Connect to the server with FileZilla and navigate to the savegame folder:

**2. Download the files**

Drag all the files from the server to your PC into a local folder of your choice.

**3. Replace your local save**

Copy the downloaded files into your local savegame folder and overwrite the existing files:

The next time you start FS25, you'll see the current server state.

**Note:** Console savegames (PS5, Xbox) can't be transferred to a dedicated server, and vice versa.

## Common problems and solutions

### Server loads an empty savegame

Usually the savegame folder is in the wrong directory, or the folder itself was zipped instead of its contents. Check the path and make sure the files sit directly in the savegame folder — not in a subfolder.

### "Uploaded savegame not supported"

This error appears when you try to upload an FS22 or older savegame. Only FS25 saves are supported.

### Missing mods on load

If the savegame contains mods that aren't installed on the server, the corresponding objects (vehicles, buildings) get removed. Install **all** required mods before uploading. A missing mod map can prevent the server from starting at all.

### Money or progress is wrong

You probably uploaded the wrong savegame slot. Check that you selected `savegame1`, `savegame2` etc. correctly.

### Objects missing after loading

Check that all mods are installed on the server in the **correct version**. Version differences between PC and server can lead to missing or incorrectly loaded objects.

## Tips for the savegame transfer

**Create a backup:** Always back up the server savegame before uploading — if something goes wrong, you can restore the original state.

**Same game version:** Your local game and the server should be on the same FS25 version. Version differences can lead to loading errors.

**Same mod versions:** Not just the same mods — the same versions, too. Keep a mod list with version numbers, especially with frequent updates.

**Sync regularly:** If you switch between single-player and multiplayer, always transfer the latest save before switching.
