# FS25 Courseplay & AutoDrive on Your Server

> Install and use Courseplay and AutoDrive on your FS25 dedicated server: automate field work and transport runs, crossplay notes and CPU tips for stable performance.

**Short answer:** Yes. Both mods run server-side and keep working even when you're offline. Courses and routes are stored on the server and available to all players.

## Courseplay & AutoDrive on the Server — Overview

**Courseplay** and **AutoDrive** are the two most popular automation mods in Farming Simulator 25. Courseplay handles the actual field work (plowing, sowing, harvesting), while AutoDrive drives vehicles from A to B on routes you create yourself — for example to unload auger wagons or to sell crops. On a dedicated server the two work together brilliantly and keep running even when the respective player is offline.

**Important:** Both mods are pure **helper mods**, not ModHub DLCs. On the server they count like any other mod — they must be installed server-side, and all players get them automatically when joining (if sourced from the ModHub). External versions must be identical locally for everyone.

## Do the Mods Work on a Dedicated Server?

Yes — and that's exactly the advantage over the classic in-game helper: a vehicle started on Courseplay or AutoDrive keeps running on the server **permanently**, regardless of who's currently online. You start your combine on a course in the morning, and the field gets harvested while you're long busy doing something else.

Two things are different from singleplayer:

- **Courses and routes are stored on the server** — not locally on your PC. All players access the same created courses.
- **The entire load sits on the server CPU.** Many AI vehicles driving at once are the most CPU-intensive thing in FS25.

## Installation on the Server

**1. Get the mods from the ModHub**

Download **FS25_Courseplay** and **FS25_AutoDrive** via the ModHub in the server web interface or as ZIPs. ModHub versions are crossplay-compatible — important if console players are joining.

**2. Upload via web interface or FTP**

Activate them in the web interface under "Mods" or place the ZIP files in the mod folder via FTP. **Never unzip the ZIPs** — the server loads them automatically at startup.

**3. Activate the mods in the savegame**

Make sure both mods are activated in the savegame. Restart the server and check the server log to confirm both mods loaded without errors.

**Order doesn't matter, version does:** Always use the ModHub version matching your game version. After an FS25 update, outdated helper mods are the most common reason servers no longer start.

## Setting Up and Using Courseplay

Courseplay creates courses directly in-game — on the server they are stored centrally:

- Select a vehicle and open the Courseplay menu (default key, freely reassignable in the menu).
- Have a course generated (field edge as reference) or create a field work course automatically.
- Choose the implement and task (e.g. sowing, fertilizing, harvesting) and start the helper.

Since the server stores the courses, another player can reuse a course you created later — handy for community servers with fixed fields.

## Setting Up and Using AutoDrive

AutoDrive works with a **route network** that you create once across the map:

- Open the AutoDrive editor and place waypoints between fields, the farm, the gas station and sell points.
- Name destinations (e.g. "Farm", "Wheat sale") so vehicles can navigate to them.
- The route network is stored server-side and available to everyone.

The interplay is the real trick: **Courseplay harvests**, while an auger wagon controlled by **AutoDrive** automatically shuttles between the combine and storage. That way a complete harvest chain runs without your involvement.

## Crossplay: What Console Players Need to Know

As long as you use **only the ModHub versions** of Courseplay and AutoDrive, crossplay between PC, PS5 and Xbox works. As soon as an external (non-ModHub) mod version sits on the server, crossplay is disabled and console players can no longer join.

## Performance: The CPU Factor

AI vehicles are the biggest load on an FS25 server. Every vehicle driven by Courseplay or AutoDrive constantly computes steering, collision and implement logic. The limit is set by the **single-core performance** of the server CPU:

**Rule of thumb:** The higher the single-core performance of the server CPU, the more AI vehicles can run at once without noticeable lag. CPUs with weak single-core performance hit their limit with just a few simultaneous helpers.

Keep an eye on the server TPS (the **SimpleInspector** mod displays it): if it stays above 50, everything is fine. If it drops below 30, reduce the number of simultaneously active helpers.

## Common Problems

- **Server won't start after a mod update:** Outdated Courseplay/AutoDrive version. Update to the current ModHub version.
- **Courses/routes are gone:** Usually after switching savegames. Courses are tied to the respective savegame.
- **Vehicle stops:** Obstacle on the route or waypoints too tight. Place AutoDrive waypoints more generously.
- **Heavy lag with many helpers:** Too many AI vehicles for the CPU — see the Performance section.

## Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

---

## Frequently asked questions

**Q: Do Courseplay and AutoDrive work on a dedicated server?**
A: Yes. Both mods run server-side and keep working even when you're offline. Courses and routes are stored on the server and available to all players.

**Q: Are Courseplay and AutoDrive crossplay-compatible?**
A: Only if you exclusively use the ModHub versions. As soon as an external mod version is installed, crossplay is disabled and console players can't join.

**Q: Why does my server lag with many AI workers?**
A: AI vehicles are the biggest load in FS25 and depend on the CPU's single-core performance. CPUs with high single-core performance handle far more vehicles smoothly than older server CPUs.

**Q: Do I need to install both mods?**
A: No, they're independent. Courseplay handles field work, AutoDrive the driving. But they unlock their full potential together, e.g. for automated harvest chains.
